Jet Li's Hero, and a rave about Asian culture...

I went to see Jet Li’s “Hero” last night. It was Unbelievable! The visuals were like LIQUID SILK. I highly recommend seeing this flick. I thought it was way better cinematically than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.

Excellent fight scenes, and the color of all the scenes were choreographed for the mood . There’s an unreal scene where two girls in red are fighting among yellow leaves that puts the snow-fight scene in Kill Bill to shame. It was just GORGEOUS. And the attention to the audio was definitely of an extraordinary caliber, picking out single raindrops and the sound of a thousand arrows flying.

I have to say, the story was beautiful in that the humanity apparent in the characters was overwhelming. Even the bad guy, in the end, was supposed to be forgiven. The end is supposed to justify the means, although I'm not sure that everyone will agree.
Just go see it already.

I love the bounties of Asian culture, although I wish particularly, that China would get out of Tibet, and that Japan would ease up on its white-collar-suicide-pace of living.
But I do love the asian arts, and the food is good.
Especially Vietnamese spring rolls! Damn, they're good. If you ever happen into Philadelphia, get your ass into Chinatown and go to the Vietnam Restaurant- 221 N. 11th St. Be careful, there is the Vietnamese Palace across the street. You don't want to confuse them.

Sayonara!
